Venus and Serena Williams will meet in the final of the Australian Open after they both won their semi-final encounters. It will be the ninth time that the sisters have played against each other in a grand slam final.

Venus was too experienced and too strong in the end for fellow American Coco Vandeweghe, ending her giant killing run in three sets 6-7, 6-2, 6-3.

Serena ended the fairy tale run of Croat Mirjana Lucic-Baroni, completely overpowering her in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.

Serena will be playing for her 23rd grand slam singles title which would be a record in the open-era.

Venus will be playing for her eighth grand slam singles title and her first here in Australia. It will be her first grand slam singles final appearance since 2009.
